Shane's is a no frills, old school sandwich shop that offers a simple menu with good prices and a friendly staff. You can either choose your order to go or you can sit down in the spartan dining room. Do not expect ambiance in this place. Honestly, I don't think you could get farther from the definition of the word than sitting in this dining area, but I think that only adds to the charm. For my lunch I had the chicken rider, grilled chicken, a choice of cheese (swiss, provolone, or American), lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayonnaise on a pita. After tax, it was $6.20. Not a bad price, especially considering it came with a choice of potato salad, macaroni salad, or a bag of potato chips. You could also upgrade to fries for a dollar more. Again, it is a simple menu, but it works. I would have liked a bit more meat, but for the price, I can't complain too loudly. The potato salad was pretty tasty, as well. So, I will say if you are here in the neighborhood, it is a viable stop for a quick bite to eat and get yourself back in the day's grind. We need places like these, these holdouts before corporate America devoured these little mom and pop places. A place where you grab a quick meal that you don't see in every city, in every swivel of your head.
Great place to stop and have a good home cooked meal. The ladies in here are really sweet, and they all can cook. Lol. The grits are nice and creamy with cheese... the hash browns are a perfect proportion and always crisp to a T!! Yeah this isn't a luxury ambiance filled restaurant that has candles and all that jazz, but the food is fantastic. They know the regulars by name..and they remember your order. I usually come here 3-4 times per week if I'm over here. Great breakfast and lunch for a reasonable price. I usually get the veggie omelette and add shrimp, grits and hash browns. This place has been a staple in jax for years. Simple, no frills sandwiches and breakfast executed perfectly. Their sandwiches are addictive. The nicest people you'll ever order from. I love this place.
The staff here is great! The ladies remember the regulars and what they like. It is not table service, you order at the counter and pay. I have eaten in house and gotten food to go and both were quick and tasty. Yesterday I got a biscuit "grilled" per Rhonda's suggestion. It was delicious with jam! I like their tuna salad and the sliders for lunch. There are always lots of working guys at Shane's for breakfast and lunch. It is not fancy but it's local, friendly, quick and satisfying.
A solid 4 star hole in the wall sandwich shop. A nuts and bolts blue collar spot built for the locals. I ordered the cheese Burger and "bucket of fries". Both where we'll about average and would entice me to return. However the meal was highlighted by the housemaid cherry limeade. Update: I also recommend the Friday special: chicken breast Ryder
